EEC Council has adopted the EAEU Technical Regulation “On requirements for energy efficiency of power consuming devices”

A new technical regulation for energy consuming appliances is now in force in EAEU. On August 8, 2019, four member of EEC Council, deputy prime ministers of the EAEU member states agreed and adopted technical regulations on energy efficiency of energy-consuming devices. Technical regulation was ratified by deputy prime ministers of Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. Ratification by Kazakhstan is expected.

The document applies to refrigerators, televisions, computers, washing machines, dishwashers, air conditioners, room fans, water pumps and other electrical appliances. In order to better inform customers, certain types of power consuming devices will be provided with special labels and technical sheets on energy efficiency.

A phased introduction of certain requirements of the technical regulations is planned. This will ensure a smooth transition to common mandatory requirements by manufacturers of power consuming devices. The document will enter into force on September 1, 2021. A decision for transitional provisions will as well be taken, according to the project this period will amount to 2 years.
