Starting from 2021, in Kyrgyzstan electrical appliances will be certified according to energy efficiency standards of the EAEU Technical Regulation “On requirements for energy efficiency of power consuming devices”. The main purpose of certification is to ensure and achieve savings through the use of safe and energy-efficient lighting devices. This was announced by Andrey Korovin, Head of the Photometric Laboratory at the Center for Standardization and Metrology at the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
For this purpose, in 2019 with the support of UNDP-RTF regional project, a unique photometric laboratory was founded at the Center for Standardization and Metrology. In the period of January 13 to 15, 2020, again with the support of UNDP-RTF project, personnel of the laboratory completed a professional training in the basics of photometry and testing of lighting devices. The training was held by Evgeny Ivashin, a specialist of the All-Russian Research Institute for Optical and Physical Measurements Federal State Unitary Enterprise (VNIIOFI). Also, as part of the preparation of the photometric laboratory for international accreditation, Ivashin conducted a certified calibration of photometric equipment.
Aleksey Ous, an employee of the laboratory, said that the training covered the preparation (calibration) of the equipment, as well as the testing of lighting fixtures and lighting equipment, including LED lamps and incandescent light bulbs. According to the test results, the equipment will enable obtaining real parameters of light devices and comparing them with the parameters provided by manufacturers.
Upon completion of the training, employees will receive certificates, and the laboratory itself will be granted certificates for equipment calibration in accordance with the EAEU Technical Regulations. All imported and manufactured products that are on the market of the Kyrgyz Republic will have to undergo mandatory certification starting from 2021.
To remind, at the end of 2019, in the frame of UNDP-RTF regional project "Regulatory Framework to Promote Energy Efficiency in Countries of the Eurasian Economic Union" implemented with the financial support of the Russian Federation, the laboratory received modern photometric equipment to conduct testing on quality and energy efficiency of lighting devices .
