About Project

The Regional Project “Regulatory Framework to Promote Energy Efficiency in Countries of the Eurasian Economic Union” sets the goal to reduce energy consumption and related greenhouse gases emissions by promoting energy efficiency of lighting, household appliances and buildings engineering systems in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan via the introduction of energy efficiency regulations and standards, development of testing capacities, as well as the promotion of energy efficient technologies through awareness raising of end-users. The project is implemented by UNDP with grant financing from the Russian Federation.

Who are the beneficiaries of the project?
The project beneficiaries are the main recipients of its results. Representatives of the beneficiaries are the permanent members of the Project Steering Committee who determine the main activities of the project. The key beneficiaries of UNDP-RTF regional project are the Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia, the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry for Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Resource Extraction of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.
How long will the project last?
According to the Project Document the project has been developed for two years. The expected completion date of the project – October 2019.
Does the project cooperate with other projects in the region?
UNDP-RTF regional project closely cooperate with other projects on energy efficiency in the Eastern Europe and CIS region, including UNDP-GEF project “Standards, Certification and Labelling of Energy Efficiency of Electric Domestic Appliances and Equipment in Kazakhstan”, UNDP-GEF project “Green Urban Lighting in Armenia”, UNDP-GEF project “Supporting Green Urban Development in Small and Medium-Sized Cities in Belarus”, UNDP-GCF project “De-risking and Scaling-up Investment in Energy Efficient Building Retrofits in Armenia” and others. These projects provide co-financing within the national components of UNDP-RTF regional project.
