A photometric laboratory for testing the lighting equipment on the energy performance parameters of energy efficiency is established in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan within the frames of the project “Regulatory Framework to Promote Energy Efficiency in Countries of the Eurasian Economic Union” financed by the Russian Federation and implemented by UNDP.
The Laboratory was established under the Bishkek center for certification and metrology of the Kyrgyzstandart. On June 22, the Center for Standardization and Metrology under the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic hosted the representatives of the Project for commissioning of the photometric laboratory equipment.
The importance of the laboratory in terms of its ability to test a wide variety of lighting fixtures and light sources, including medical and other light-emitting equipments. The laboratory will also provide certification testing for assessment of compliance against the requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union’s Technical Regulation “On energy performance requirements of energy consuming appliances”.
To ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory, the staff was trained by the Supplier’s expert.
Within the project, a similar laboratory is currently being established in Armenia thus setting new testing standards on the way to the introduction of energy efficient technologies in the countries.
